Through the study of arranging, students learn the specific qualities of each instrument, how to write for them, and how they function melodically, harmonically and rhythmically in a variety of stylistic settings.
Focusing on instrumental ranges and capabilities, stylistic considerations, and voicing possibilities, the study of arranging enables students to better articulate and write within different idioms what they would like to hear from other musicians.
